Born England, 1973. Hopkins' debut feature film Better Things premiered at International Critics Week at the Cannes Film Festival 2008, where it was nominated for the Camera D'Or. It was awarded the FIPRESCI critics' award in Stockholm and the SIGNIS award from the World Catholic Association for Communication amongst other distinctions.

His short films Field and Love Me Or Leave Me Alone had previously won over 30 international awards including the Gold Hugo from Chicago, Best British Short at Edinburgh and the Prix UIP European Film Academy nomination.

His solo gallery exhibition Sunday, a collection of single and multi-channel moving image installations, opened at the Baltic Centre for Contemporary Art in March 2009 and was presented at galleries in Liverpool and Yokohama in the same year.
